kids day camp

the rest of last week did nothing special happen. only that we went to an restaurant for grilled eel on thursday evening. it was really really good! maybe you think, eel is a winter dish, but in japan grilled eel is best in summer. also it’s said to be good, to eat a lot in summer, which is quite different from germany, where most people would say you should eat less and more light stuff.

on friday i bought a lot of yarn at yuzawaya to crochet a cute summer capelet. i hope i’ll find the time to finish it (^_^;)

yesterday we went to a children day camp on a mountain near nakagawa and cooked with around 30 japanese school kids and did some activites with them. that was very nice. but it was also a bit exhausting, because of the heat. the kids were great and really cute.

we made poster together about different countries (what special clothes do they wear, what food do they eat etc), cooked curry outdoors and then made magatama beads out of soap stone.

excerpt from wikipedia: „Magatama (…) are curved, comma-shaped beads that appeared in prehistoric Japan (…) approximately ca. 1,000 BC to the 6th century AD.“

today i wanted to go an onsen in nakagawa, but i stayed home and relaxed, because i had a terrible headache.
